The idea of collecting, nature, and art are a constant in my work: imaginary museums taken over by nature in which context and hierarchy are challenged; land and seascapes generated from imagination rather than observation; and symmetrical drawings created during physical stress to represent life balance, the fragmented self, duality, opposites, introversion and extroversion. Somehow there is a sense of optimism to all my work. Chasing well-being through curiosity and wonder. Confronting solitude and dealing with memories. Body marks and old voices that keep me constantly alert. The process is equally or more important than the final result. Constant modification more than creation. Drawing as repetitive mantra.
I enjoy working on ongoing series, jumping from illustrative figuration to abstraction and from drawing to painting to sculpture. I don’t feel like I create to transform or influence anyone but myself. I live and work in Connecticut and New York, USA.
